This is the international architectural competition for Gwanalli Beach area development when their first suspension bridge of the city, Gwangan Bridge, was completed.
The point of the design concept is visual connection between existing beach and new bridge. People on the beach see the new bridge and people on the new bridge see the existing beach. The visual connection evokes the relationship between new and old object and leads to communicate each other.
New artificial beach plus cultural space bring the culture and people of the existing beach to new location. The new location is converted to the extension of existing beach and extends the space for dominant culture of the city.
This project was awarded Honorable Mention.
