PART7 and Queen

TJ, a principal, loves a rock band, Queen.  Although he has been listening their songs over and over for last 20 years, he still found new reasons why he loves Queen.  As an architect, he described why;

1.  They are a true team.
Most people, even though they don't like Queen, know Freddie Mercury died by AIDS in 1991.  Until then, the band did not replace or add any members.  The original four people kept the band and built their team work for 20 years.  Once they had a crisis to break up, they talked and respected each other and their music philosophy.  Architecture is works produced by a team which usually has many members: architects, designers, engineers, vendors, and contractors.  To get best result, orchestration among team members is most important thing.  Queen achieved the team work in their life.

2.  They always tried new.
They are the first commercial music video creator - Bohemian Rhapsody.  They created Operatic rock.  Brian May, a guitarist, made his guitar with his father when he was young.  Still using it!

They are musicians, basically they create songs, but Queen are more creative and more energetic to try new stuff.


3.  They are Queen, but sometimes, not, in terms of music style.
We can tell who designed a white building without seeing project information.  Richard Meier.  Most musicians and architects have their design style.  It's natural because each person has his/her own personality. However, Queen's songs are very different.  Like mentioned above, they are categorized as an operatic rock band, but their songs cover from Jazz to classical style!  Some architects repeat their favorite style over and over until they die.  It's easier for them once they became famous with a certain styled building.  If they stay in the same style, they limit chance to improve their design.

PART7 want to be Queen in architecture.  We will try new, not stay on same spot, and build up our team work in inner and outer relationship.
